Frequently Asked Questions

When is the right time to purchase my gown?

In all honesty it depends on when you are ready but we don’t recommend looking until you are both financially and emotionally ready to buy your gown. Some brides are super organised and want the dress to be the first decision made as they feel it contributes largely to the overall look of the day. Others are more relaxed and leave the dress search until later on the the planning. either way we recommend at least a 6 month timescale for delivery of a gown and then around 8 weeks for alterations and fittings. Our most common lead time is around 9 -12 months.

Do I need an Appointment?

We do work on an appointment basis for a number of reasons. Due to the nature of what we do we want to make your experience personable and memorable. Making sure we have dedicated team members available for you is the biggest part of that. Also by being “appointment only” we reduce the level of footfall into the boutique meaning during your appointment we get minimal interruptions and maximum privacy.

Do you have parking?

Monday - Friday we have free of charge disk parking on street outside the boutique. If you don’t have a disk just park up and pop in for one, we keep them in store. it is unrestricted free parking all day on a weekend and spaces are usually easy to find.

Should you wish to visit Harrogate town centre after your appointment, we are a 10 minute walk from the centre.

How do I prepare for my appointment, and what do I need to bring with me?

Generally we have everything you will need for your appointment however you may wish to ensure you are wearing comfortable underwear and a strapless bra is always useful. you may bring your own shoes if you have a heel height you wish to try on with the gowns although a full range of bridal shoes from Charlotte Mills and Emmy London are available should you require them.

Some brides find it useful to collect images of gowns they like before their appointment. any information you can give us regarding the style of gown you like, be it a neckline a specific fabric even a colour perhaps? this helps us guide you and suggest styles for you to try. of course if you have no idea then don’t worry our staff are very experienced in bridal styling and will be more than happy to suggest styles and shapes for you to try. above all come with an open mind. trying on the gowns should be a fun and memorable experience (even the ones that don’t look so great!!)

We offer appointments in two separate areas. The first is our stray side room, at the front of the boutique, light and bright and will lovely views out to the stray parkland. We do not enforce a locked door policy so we may occasionally get visitors to the shop that you will be visible to.

The second is our Boutique consultation suite, an area to the rear of the boutique that is smaller than the main shop floor but away from the main street and entry to the shop so inevitably a little more private. If you feel you would prefer a specific area for your appointment please feel free to check availability when you book in and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
