Today we get to share with you the dreamy details of Lucy and Will’s wedding at The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa! Lucy wanted to create a romantic and personal feel to their wedding and found her wedding inspiration in some of our favourite Instagram sites and blogs such as Brides Up North. Lucy wore Mayfair by Suzanne Neville a classic and elegant structured dress which Lucy personalised with a bespoke lace bolero created by our super skilled seamstress Sana.
Lucy and Will’s day was photographed by the very talented photographer Hayley Baxter who really portrayed the romance of their beautiful day and the stunning Yorkshire Dales backdrop in which Lucy and Will said I Do.
The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa is a country style hotel overlooking the Coniston Cold. It is set in beautiful surroundings and the hotel itself has some great functions rooms with lots of character which are used for weddings. I wanted to create a quite a romantic feel to the wedding so we had lots of candles dotted about the two rooms we used but as the wedding has a cozy country feel about it I also wanted to capture this in the styling too so we used hessian napkin ties with gypsophila tucked in beneath. We also had homemade chutneys and jams for our favours.
I found my wedding inspiration in magazines, Instagram and Pinterest. I found Instagram especially helpful as there are some create accounts out theres. Some of my favourites included ‘soyouregettingmarried’ ‘bridesupnorth’ and ‘loverly’.
The dress is very simple but has a beautiful structured shape to it. It also has gorgeous buttons running down the back which I absolutely love about the dress. I tried on lots of lace dresses but I found them a bit fussy for me. I really loved the simplicity of the dress, as soon as I put it on it just felt right. The Bridal Collection also made me a custom long sleeve, lace, off the shoulder bolero for me which I wore in the church.
My advice to someone starting out on the dress shopping experience would be to try on lots of different styles not just what you have in mind before you’ve even tried a dress on. I tried on lots of different dresses some of which my mum or bridesmaids picked out for me which is a really good way of exploring different looks. I would also say that you need to enjoy the experience as much as you can rather than get stressed out that you haven’t yet found the right dress. I went to four stores and tried on over twenty five gowns before I found the right one for me.
When I finally decided on my dress I felt a mixture of happiness and relief! I was so pleased that my mum and bridesmaids liked the dress and we were all agreement that it was the right one for me. The Bridal Collection definitely stood out from other wedding shops for me. From the moment you arrive for your first appointment to leaving with your dress you are made to feel really special. Everyone I came across was friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to help me. The boutique itself is beautifully decorated and there’s a real luxurious feel to it. I always enjoyed visiting the boutique but my favourite part was probably trying my dress on again after my first fitting, that was really special for me.
The fittings and alteration team were fantastic. I had a specific image of how the finished dress and fit would look at the ladies got it spot on for me. The dress is very fitted and the ladies did an amazing job of making it fit me perfectly. Because my dress was so simple and also because it was strapless I liked the idea of having a cover up to wear in the church. I described what I wanted and showed some pictures to the seamstress and she did an amazing job of creating my bolero for me. It was just perfect and really finished the look off.
The ceremony itself was very special and emotional for us and it was lovely to have all our friends and family there celebrating with us. I also really loved getting ready with my bridesmaids in the morning and seeing my dress on once all my hair and makeup had been done. We were all so excited and it was great fun all having our hair and make up done together. It was also great to see the rooms all decorated as it’s like seeing your vision come to life and all the months of planning coming together.
